Why host your own DayZ server?
DayZ is the survival game where the other players are the threat. A server of your own decides what kind of DayZ it is: a hardcore vanilla Chernarus, a modded Livonia with traders and a base-building economy, a PvE community or a Namalsk winter nightmare, with the loot economy, the day and night cycle and the mod list you choose, running around the clock.
DayZ is heavy on a single CPU core and on memory once mods and a full loot economy are in play. Our plans start at 8 GB and go to 16 GB, on AMD Ryzen CPUs with high clocks and NVMe storage for the large mod packs DayZ communities run, behind VibeSHIELD DDoS protection. The server is online within minutes of ordering.
Which DayZ plan do you need?
Player count, the map and the mod list set the size:
Vanilla and light mods: DayZ I
8 GB and three threads for a vanilla or lightly modded server with up to 30 players.
Modded communities: DayZ II
12 GB and four threads for 30 to 50 players with traders, Expansion, base building and a long mod list.
Full servers and big maps: DayZ III
16 GB and five threads for 50 to 60 players, the game's maximum, heavy mod packs and large custom maps. Upgrading keeps your files.
Workshop mods, maps and the loot economy
Your server is a normal DayZ dedicated server with full file access, so everything the community has built works.
Steam Workshop mods
Add the Workshop IDs to the startup settings and the server downloads and loads them, keys included. CF, Community Online Tools, DayZ Expansion, traders and the big survival overhauls all work.
Chernarus, Livonia and custom maps
Run Chernarus, Livonia, Sakhal or community maps such as Namalsk, Deer Isle and Esseker: install the map mod and set it in the startup settings.
Economy, weather and rules
Tune the loot economy in the types and economy files, the day and night cycle, weather and persistence in serverDZ.cfg, and keep admin tools such as DaRT or Community Online Tools for moderation.
DayZ server locations worldwide
Low ping is half the fun. Our DayZ servers run in 15 datacenters across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Oceania and Africa, every one on the same AMD Ryzen hardware with NVMe storage and behind VibeSHIELD, our own DDoS protection network with 17 Tb/s of mitigation capacity. You pick the location at checkout, and the latency checker below shows your real ping to each one before you order.
Outgrown your first choice? Our team moves your server to another location on request, with your files intact, so the location you start in is never a lock-in.
Your first steps after ordering
The server is delivered installed and running vanilla Chernarus. Getting your own server live takes a few steps:
- 1Set the hostname, password and admin password in serverDZ.cfg
- 2Add your Workshop mod IDs to the startup settings
- 3Set the map and the time and weather settings
- 4Upload your custom types and economy files if you have them
- 5Restart from the panel and join from the in-game launcher
Switching from another DayZ host?
A DayZ server is its mpmissions folder with the economy and storage, serverDZ.cfg and the profile folder with mod configs. Upload them over SFTP, enter the same Workshop IDs, restart, and bases, loot state and player data are back.
- 1
Download your mpmissions folder, serverDZ.cfg and profile from the old host
- 2
Upload them over SFTP and enter the same mod list
- 3
Restart and let your players reinstall nothing: the mods come from the Workshop

Why choose VibeGAMES
DDoS protection
VibeSHIELD, our globally anycasted DDoS-protected network, now spans 46 scrubbing locations worldwide. Every point of presence filters traffic the instant it lands, stopping attacks as close to the source as possible, long before they ever reach your server.
All 46 locations combine into one unified DDoS-protected fabric, so the full capacity of the entire network backs every individual server. Layer that on top of custom game-aware filtering, tuned for the protocols our customers actually use, and it doesn't matter how big the attack is or how long it lasts. Your players stay connected.
