How to Join Your DayZ Server

Your DayZ server is installed and running, and the first thing everyone wants is to get in. DayZ is joined through the DayZ Launcher, which also loads the mods your server runs, so this guide starts there.

1Find Your Server Address

• Log in to your game panel and click your DayZ server.
• On the Console page the How to join card shows the Server name, the Address and the Port. Click a value to copy it.
• Make sure the status next to the server name reads RUNNING. A freshly started DayZ server takes a minute or two before it accepts players; the console shows when it is ready.

2Join From the DayZ Launcher

• Start the DayZ Launcher from Steam and open Servers.
• On the Community tab, search for your Server name and press Join.
• The launcher downloads and loads every mod the server runs before it starts the game, so joining from the list is the easy way for your players too.
• If you set a Server Password on the Game Settings page, the launcher asks for it here.

3Join With the Address

• In the launcher press Direct Connect at the bottom of the Servers tab.
• Enter the Address and the Port from the How to join card and press Join.
• Direct connect also loads the mods, as long as the server is reachable. Use it when the server is not in the list yet.

Good to Know

• New servers appear in the list a few minutes after they started. The list is built from Steam's server browser, which is slow to pick up a fresh server. Direct connect works right away.
• Everyone needs the same DayZ version. The server updates itself on every start when Automatic Updates is on, so after a DayZ patch restart the server before players update their game. See how to update your DayZ server.
• Mods have to match. With Verify Signatures on, a player whose mods differ from the server is kicked at connection. The launcher takes care of that when they join from the list. See how to add mods.
• The Players page in the panel shows who is online and lets you kick a player without logging in as admin.
