Dragonwilds First Steps: Owner, Admin Password and World Name
RuneScape: Dragonwilds2 min readUpdated Oct 12, 2026
A new Dragonwilds server starts with a generated admin password, a server name and a world name, and without an owner. This page explains what each one does, how to make yourself the owner, and what to change before you invite players.
Become the Owner
- The owner can ban and unban any player and has full access to Server Management in the game. There is one owner per server, and the game requires one: a server with an empty Owner ID refuses to start.
- Your server starts with Owner ID 0, which lets it run before you have set yours. With 0 nobody owns the server, so a ban cannot be undone and nobody has the owner tools.
- In the game, open Settings and scroll to the bottom; your Player ID is shown there with a copy button. Paste it into Owner ID under Game Settings in the panel and restart the server. From then on you are the owner.
The Admin Password
- Anyone who enters the admin password in Server Management becomes an admin and can kick and ban players who are online. Share it only with people you trust; to take it away from someone, change it.
- Find and change it under Game Settings in the panel, then restart the server.
- Keep it different from the World password, which every player needs to join.
Server Name and World Name
- Server name is the label players see as "created by" in the Public list.
- World name is what players search for on the Public tab, exactly as written, including capitals. It is also the name of the save on your server.
- Pick both under Game Settings and restart. Choose a world name that is specific: a world called "MyWorld" is impossible to find among thousands.
- Changing the world name later creates a new, empty world. The old world stays on the server under its old name; switch the name back to return to it.
World Password
- Leave World password empty for a public server, or set one so only your players can join. The game asks for it when they join.
Good to Know
- Changes need a restart. Values changed under Game Settings apply when the server starts; the game loses changes made to its configuration file while it runs.
- Automatic updates are on: the server updates itself on every start. Restart it after a Dragonwilds update so players on the new version can join.
- Invite code: see how to join your Dragonwilds server for how console players get in.
