How to Connect the Rust+ App to Your Server

Rust+ is Facepunch's companion app for iOS and Android. Paired with your server it gives you the map with your teammates on it, team chat from your phone, and alarms from smart devices you have placed in game. Your server has the app port assigned already, so pairing takes a minute.

Check the App Port

  • Log in to your game panel and click your Rust server.
  • Click Startup in the left menu under CONFIGURATION.
  • Find App Port (APP_PORT). It is read only because we assign it, and a real number here means Rust+ is enabled. -1 would mean disabled.

Optional, but this is the image Rust+ shows for your server.

  • Open Rust settings, go to Images, and upload a square image as the Logo.
  • The panel hosts it for you, so there is no link to keep alive and no blank circle when someone else's host goes down.

Pair From In Game

  • Install Rust+ from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the Steam account you play on.
  • Join your server in Rust.
  • Press Escape to open the menu, and use the Rust+ option to pair. The app receives a notification and adds the server.
  • Pairing is per player. Everyone who wants the app has to do this themselves while on the server.

Pair Smart Devices

  • Smart Alarms, Smart Switches and Storage Monitors are paired individually: look at the device in game and hold the pair button.
  • Each one then appears in the app, so a Smart Alarm on your base can notify your phone while you are away.
  • These pair to the player who paired them, not to the server.

Good to Know

  • Pairing needs the server to be reachable. If the app cannot find your server, confirm the server is running and that you can join it normally first. See how to connect to your Rust server.
  • A wipe unpairs your devices. Smart devices live in the world, so wiping the map removes them and they have to be paired again. The server itself stays paired.
  • Some map features depend on the map type. A custom map may not show the same detail in the app as a procedural one.

You have your server in your pocket. To make it look right in the app and the browser, set your logo and banner in Rust settings.
