Question 1

What is open.mp and how is it different from SA-MP?

Accepted Answer

open.mp (Open Multiplayer) is the open-source successor to SA-MP, built by the community to address SA-MP's limitations. It offers improved performance, better scripting support, bug fixes and active development. Existing SA-MP gamemodes are compatible with open.mp with minimal or no changes.

Question 2

Can I migrate my existing SA-MP server to open.mp?

Accepted Answer

Yes. open.mp is designed to be backward-compatible with SA-MP Pawn scripts, so most gamemodes and filterscripts work out of the box. Upload your existing scripts via SFTP and configure the server. Migration is typically straightforward.

Question 3

How many players can an open.mp server support?

Accepted Answer

open.mp servers support up to 1000 player slots, significantly more than the original SA-MP limit of 500. In practice, large community servers run 200–500 players comfortably on our higher-tier plans.

Question 4

How do I install and manage gamemodes on my open.mp server?

Accepted Answer

Upload your gamemode (.amx) files to the gamemodes directory via SFTP or the control panel's file manager. Set the active gamemode in the server.cfg or config.json file and restart the server. Filterscripts and plugins are managed the same way.

Question 5

Is DDoS protection included with open.mp server hosting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All plans include DDoS mitigation at no additional cost. GTA multiplayer servers are frequent targets and our infrastructure is built to filter attack traffic and keep your community online.

Question 6

How quickly can I get an open.mp server online?

Accepted Answer

Your server is provisioned and ready within minutes of completing your order. Upload your scripts, configure your settings and your server is live.
