How to Set Yourself as a Superadmin in Your Server

Admin rights in FiveM come in two layers: the built-in permission system (ACE) that controls console commands and many admin menus like vMenu, and your framework's own admin groups (ESX, QBCore). This guide sets you up in the built-in system through the panel, and points you to the right place for frameworks.

Find Your Identifier

  • Join your server with FiveM, then open the game panel and click Players under GAME SERVER. The page shows everyone who is online right now.

  • Click your own row to expand it. You will see your identifiers (license, steam, discord, fivem and more), each with a copy button.
  • Copy the license identifier. The copied value already includes the license: prefix.

Add Yourself to the Admin Group

  • Open the server.cfg Editor under GAME SERVER and scroll to the Group memberships section.
  • In the left field, enter your identifier with the identifier. prefix, for example identifier.license:1a2b3c....
  • In the right field, enter group.admin, then press the + button to add the row.
  • Each row here writes one add_principal line to your server.cfg.

Give the Group Its Permissions

  • Scroll to the Access control section.
  • Enter group.admin in the group field, command in the object field, keep it on allow, and press the + button.
  • This writes an add_ace line that lets everyone in group.admin use console commands. Add narrower entries such as command.quit instead if you want to grant less.

Save and Restart

  • Press Save changes and restart your server from the Console page.
  • Reconnect and test an admin-gated feature, for example opening vMenu if it is installed.

Using a Framework?

  • ESX and QBCore manage in-game admin ranks themselves, usually in the users (ESX) or players (QBCore) database table or through their own admin commands. Check the documentation of your framework version; you can edit the table with HeidiSQL using your database credentials.
  • txAdmin admins (the web panel) are separate from in-game admins; manage those on the txAdmin page.

Finished

You are now in group.admin with ACE permissions. Resources that check ACE permissions, such as vMenu, will recognize you after the restart.
