How to Add Tags to Your Rust Server
Rust2 min de leituraAtualizado a 31 de ago. de 2026
Tags tell the Rust server browser what kind of server you run: PvE, a weekly wipe cycle, duo only, your region. Players filter by them, so the right tags put your server in front of the people looking for exactly what you offer. Your name is read by humans; tags are read by the filters.
Open Rust Settings
- Log in to your game panel and click your Rust server.
- Click Rust Settings in the left menu under GAME SERVER.
- Find Server browser tags and press Edit.
Pick Your Tags
- Tags are grouped chips, so you click what applies rather than remembering the exact spelling Rust expects.
- Set the ones that describe your server honestly: the wipe cycle, the team size, PvE or PvP, your region, the rates.
- You can add a custom tag if you need one that is not in the list.
- The page shows the resulting
server.tagsline, which you can copy if you want it for something else.
Save
- Save the block. The setting is written to your server configuration and applied.
- The browser can take a few minutes to show the change. If it has not updated after a restart, give it a little longer before assuming it failed.
Good to Know
- Tag honestly. Tagging a 5x server as vanilla gets you clicks and then immediate disconnects, which does more harm than the traffic is worth. Facepunch has removed servers for abusing the listing.
- Tags and name do different jobs. Tags get you through the filter, the name gets you the click. Set both. See Rust settings.
- Match your tags to your rules. If you tag
duo, set Max team size to 2 in the Gameplay block, or players will filter in and find something else. - Wipe day matters more than anything. Players sort for servers that just wiped, so a
weeklytag plus a wipe schedule is the strongest combination you have. See how to wipe your Rust server.
Finished
Your server advertises what it actually is. If it still does not appear for players at all, that is a different problem: read why your Rust server is not in the server browser.
