How to enter the FiveM license code

Every FiveM server needs a license key from Cfx.re. Without one the server refuses to start. Creating a key is free; this guide shows how to create it and where to enter it.

1Generate a Key at Cfx.re

1. Log in with your CFX account on https://portal.cfx.re/login.
2. In the top menu, click Servers.

3. Press the GENERATE KEY button.

4. Enter a name and press GENERATE.

5. Under Actions, click Copy registration key.

2Game Server: Enter the Key in the Panel

• In the game panel, open your server and click server.cfg Editor under GAME SERVER.
• Scroll to the License & API keys section and paste the key into the FiveM license key field. Use Show / Hide to verify it.
• Press Save changes and restart your server from the Console page.

3VPS or Dedicated Server

If you run FiveM on a VPS or dedicated server instead, put the key in your server.cfg yourself:

set sv_licenseKey "xxxxxxxxx"

When the console prints Server license key authentication succeeded. Welcome! everything is OK. Keep in mind a key is bound to one server at a time; reusing it elsewhere causes server list problems. Brand new server? Continue with where to start.
