How to Keep Your Palworld Server Fast

A Palworld server that runs for days on end gets slower: memory use creeps up and players start to feel lag and stutter. A short restart every night clears it, and the panel can do that for you. Here is how to set one up.

Why Your Server Slows Down

  • Like most Unreal Engine servers, a Palworld server that runs for days without a restart slowly uses more memory. Players notice it as lag, rubber-banding and longer loading, usually worst when the server has been up the longest.
  • That is normal, and the clean fix is a short restart at a quiet hour rather than any config trick.
  • You can watch it happen on the Console page of the game panel: the Memory graph updates live while the server runs.

Looking for the old memory-leak hotfix? Palworld's launch versions in early 2024 really did leak memory, and the community fix was to disable bEnableInvaderEnemy. Official patches fixed the worst of it long ago, so that trick is no longer the answer. It is covered at the bottom of this page for what it still does today.

Create a Restart Schedule

  • Log in to your game panel and click your Palworld server.
  • Click Schedules in the left menu under MANAGEMENT, then press New schedule.
  • Enter a Schedule name, for example Daily restart.
  • Under Frequency, click the Daily midnight preset, or use the custom cron fields (Minute, Hour, Day/Mo, Month, Day/Wk) to pick the quietest hour for your community.
  • Keep Only run when the server is online on: there is nothing to restart when the server is already stopped.
  • Leave Schedule enabled on and press Create schedule.

Add the Restart Task

  • Click your new schedule in the list to open it, then press Add task in the Tasks section.
  • Choose the Power action task type and set the action to Restart.
  • Leave Time offset (seconds) at 0 and press Add task.

  • Note: use Power action for Palworld, not Send command. The Palworld dedicated server has no interactive console, so typed console commands have no effect on it.

Your server now restarts itself automatically every day. Palworld saves the world during a normal restart, so players lose nothing except a minute of playtime.

The Original Hotfix: Turning Off Base Raids

The launch-era hotfix disabled bEnableInvaderEnemy. That setting still exists, and on the current panel it is a simple toggle:

  • Open Game Settings in the left menu under GAME SERVER.
  • Scroll to the World & Misc section, or type raids in the search box.
  • Switch Base Raids off and restart your server.

  • Be aware: on current Palworld versions this genuinely disables base raid events, so your bases will no longer be attacked by invaders. Only turn it off if you do not want raids, or as a last resort while troubleshooting performance.

Good to Know

  • Keep your server updated. Palworld performance patches only help once they are installed. Your server updates itself when it starts if auto update is enabled on the Startup page, so the daily restart schedule also keeps you current.
  • Combine it with backups. A daily automatic backup alongside the restart schedule means a bad update or corrupted save never costs you more than a day.

Finished

Your Palworld server now restarts itself daily, which keeps RAM usage flat and picks up game updates. For tuning the rest of your world, see how to change the difficulty of your Palworld server, and if you want admin powers in game, read how to become an admin on your Palworld server.
