How to Import, Switch and Download Worlds

Minecraft Bedrock2 min lezenBijgewerkt 31 aug 2026

The world you built in single player can be your server's world, and your server's world can come back down to your device. Both directions go through the same .mcworld file, and the Worlds page handles it without you touching the file manager.

Open the Worlds Page

  • Log in to your game panel and click your Bedrock server.
  • Click Worlds in the left menu under GAME SERVER.
  • Every world on the server is listed, with the one currently loaded marked ACTIVE.

Export a World From Minecraft

Do this part in the game, before you come to the panel.

  • Open Minecraft and go to your Worlds list.
  • Press the pencil next to the world you want.
  • Choose Export World. Minecraft writes a .mcworld file and asks you where to save it.
  • On a phone this lands in your files or your downloads, and on Windows you pick the folder yourself.

Import It

  • Back on the Worlds page, press Choose a .mcworld file and pick the file you just exported.
  • The upload goes straight to your server, no FTP and no unzipping.
  • When it finishes, the world appears in the list below.

Switch Which World Loads

  • Press the world you want in the list to make it the one the server loads.
  • The server keeps running the world it already has until you restart it. This catches people out: nothing appears to happen, so they switch again, and now there are two changes queued.
  • Restart from the Console page and you land in the new world.

Download a World

  • Download on any world hands you a .mcworld file.
  • Open it on a device with Minecraft installed and it imports into your own worlds list, so you can play the server's world offline or keep a copy of it before something drastic.
  • This is also the honest answer to "can I take my base with me" when a group breaks up.

Good to Know

  • Switching worlds writes the level-name setting. That is the same key you will find under Show other settings on the Game Settings page. Change it here rather than there.
  • The world seed does nothing to an existing world. Setting a seed in Game Settings only affects a world that has yet to be generated. To use a seed, rename or move the current world so the server generates a new one.
  • Rename is cosmetic and it is not. It changes the folder the server loads, so rename the active world and you have effectively told the server to look somewhere else. Restart before you assume it worked.
  • Backups are a separate thing. Downloading a world is a copy you hold. The Backups page is the scheduled kind that lives on the server. Use both.
  • PocketMine-MP uses its own world format. If you have switched software on the Versions page, a Vanilla world does not simply move across.

Finished

Your world is where you want it. To change how it plays, see your Bedrock server settings, or add behaviour and resource packs.
